Jacquie Laing is like the engine room of Ray White.
She’s been keeping the train moving on the tracks for more than 30 years, plugging people in and out of its CRM and One System.
Brisbane-based Jacquie originally joined the group from the banking industry working in both New Zealand and London.
When she started in the 1990s there were already offices in all states albeit only a handful in WA and Brian White had just started on the expansion to New Zealand. Her role then was completely different to what it is today.
Jacquie started in the franchise reporting area which processed all of the Queensland end of month reports manually.
In fact, she remembers how the sales data for Queensland would arrive each month in hard copy and all of those individual sale entries were manually keyed. Needless to say, Jacquie’s keystroke speed was very good!
Over time she took on the reporting for the other states as well as curating the data for the awards both annual and quarterly, as well producing the raw data for the various state monthly reports that went out.
As the group's technology evolved, its platforms changed and evolved and Jacquie continued to learn new systems and assisted offices and their staff in learning these.
In the mix she also did a few years as State Administrator for Queensland and Victoria where she got to see the flip side of how all that data collated gets used.
In the last 10 years there have been more than 1000 offices in Australia - either joining or leaving our CRM and the One System products.
Her best advice to all our business owners is to take an interest in the technology that is available to you, knowing you can learn something new every day.
Jacquie says you don't need to be an expert on all the platforms you may run but you need to be across the basics on how they work and who in your business will drive them for you.
And finally, Jacquie says the secret to a long and happy productive career at Ray White is to be open to learning new things. Opportunities present themselves, often when you are not really looking.
