Right across the country many states have shut their borders and are denying entry to those from neighbouring states. This causes significant issues for those people who live in border towns, agents included.

At Real for Agents we support agents all around Australia, with quite  a few residing in border towns. Obviously they have the problem that potential buyers from neighbouring states can’t physically inspect their properties, which they often overcome relatively easily  with video inspections and the like. However the big issue arises when an agent carries listings on one side of the border but resides on the other side of that border. They are therefore effectively locked out and not able to attend to listings on the other side of the border. They can’t conduct inspections, they can’t meet with their vendor face to face nor can they attend pest and building, valuation or pre-settlement inspections.

The key to overcoming this issue has been the interconnectivity of our network and the collaborative approach we encourage between those agents who we support. Utilising Agents supported by REAL for Agents on both sides of the border, arrangements were made to dual list, assist with each other's Open for Inspections and run buyers through properties. In a unique situation, with NSW in lockdown while QLD was not, Agents met at border barricades to physically hand over keys and property brochures so inspections could continue.. 

The support and strength of the network allowed real estate to keep transacting on both sides of state borders. REAL supported agent Brent Hodge resides in QLD however his listings are primarily in NSW; “Without the support of the REAL network, I would have had to relocate to NSW or not work. I am so grateful for the network since it has allowed me to stay at home whilst still being able to service my clients and ensure the best possible outcome for my vendors.” Brent was able to reciprocate the support by running Open for Inspections in QLD for agents stuck in NSW. “Overcoming the border issues by leveraging REAL’s network feels great as it has removed so much stress in a really stressful time both for myself and my clients and stay in control”.
