Build your digital brand so you are the first person a potential client sees when looking for someone to sell or manage their property.
Having a well established online identity is becoming a popular means of securing business - and real estate agents are catching onto this.
Potential clients are quite literally only one click away from taking their business elsewhere if yours is too hard to find online.
“You can guarantee as a candidate, that the moment your CV hits a desk, that employer is going to be looking at your social media account,” Virginia Brookes, Director at Resolver Recruitment told WILLIAMS MEDIA.
With that in mind, here are some tried and tested methods to building your digital ‘brand’.
Be strategic
Ensure that whatever you post is identifiable as your brand. For example, you may choose to have themed days on social media (Monday is career advice, “Tips Tuesday”, Wednesday is a featured property, etc) or you might utilise certain colours, logos or design themes.
“Play the long game - people expect to put up a post and get lots of engagement immediately, but it is not that easy unfortunately,” says Brookes.

Engaging with relevant media brands is another great strategy to keep in mind. For example, you can secure a profile on your business or on yourself through a relevant media portal to increase your exposure.
Quality over quantity
Having lots of content isn’t necessarily always a good thing if 90 per cent of it is sloppy and rushed. Every single part of your brand, from written content to logos and banners should be of high quality and completely free of errors. Everything you post should be engaging, with a professional air to engage with current and new clients.
“The quality of content must be valuable. With so much information out there, simply being active isn’t enough. Instead of doing five pieces of content, spend five times the effort making one awesome,” says Brookes.

Be active
Remaining consistent is key to building your digital brand successfully. Always post at regular intervals, at a set time. Whether that means posting five times a day in hourly intervals or three times a week at 1pm, keep it consistent so that people know when to expect content from you.
“Consistency is crucial - random spurts of social media actually damage your account. Keep it simple and do one a day initially to get in the habit of posting,” Brookes said.
By remaining consistent, your clients will feel more involved in your activities and engaged, and are far more likely to remember you. Inconsistency, on the other hand, implies that your services may also be inconsistent.
