McGrath Northern Rivers Group today announced a key strategic merger designed to further expand the presence and firepower of the agency within the region. Such a move will see respected Elders Lennox Head rebrand as McGrath Lennox Head, as its Principals Nick Bordin, Toni Trease and Jake King will also become shareholders of the wider group.
David Mills, Group Director of McGrath Northern Rivers Group said, “We are partnering with the best operators in Lennox Head. They have deep connections to their local community and our values are very much aligned. As the real estate landscape continues to shift, it is important to have a consistency of experience. This merger enables one agency to service the entire area for buying, selling, renting, all simplified with one phone call and ease the property journey at all levels.”
McGrath Lennox Head Principal Nick Bordin explains, “Our decision to merge was driven by a common commitment to quality, service, clients and community. We collectively decided to no longer compete but to collaborate and complement each other for the benefit of our clients as we broaden our reach with a centralised database.”
Mr Bordin adds, “We have known the local McGrath team led by the Mills family for over 20 years. Having worked previously for McGrath in Sydney, I personally have huge respect for John McGrath and the management team under his leadership.
“The brand itself is clean, trusted and progressive. Geographically the move makes the most sense for us as we transition from a 30-year-old family owned and led business. We are extremely excited about the streamlining and efficiencies already in place within the McGrath operations and how that can benefit our customers.”
McGrath CEO John McGrath said, “It’s such a pleasure to welcome Nick back to our brand and see him join forces with our brilliant north coast team. Nick is an extraordinary agent and business leader and will add significantly to the success of our team.”
Mr Mills adds, “Personally my connection with Nick has spanned many years, as we worked together before as a young agent he joined McGrath in Sydney’s east. I’m excited to work with people who share the same values and to work with Nick again is a real bonus.”
The McGrath Northern Rivers Group was formed in 1983 and since has grown to be the No. 1 Agency for sales and property management across the Northern Rivers. Now operating from four offices in Ballina, Alstonville, Byron Bay and Lennox Head, they will service the entire area from Evans Head in the south, to Lismore in the West, and north to Ocean Shores.
Nick Bordin’s accolades include No 1 Agent in Elders nationally (2019 & 2020); and the Lennox Head office ranked No. 1 nationally in 2019. Currently his office has a 72% market share (rea.com.au).
Bordin has twice set the Ballina Shire residential record – most recently in October 2023 for a 5 bedroom home at 44-52 Blue Seas Parade, Lennox Head. This confidential sale has surpassed a previous record he set with the sale of 8 Byron Bay Road in 2021 ($14.1 million). His other recent sales include 1/13 Rayner Lane ($4.25 million); and 30 Pacific Parade ($4.9 million).
Local Market Commentary:
Mr Bordin has observed, “The local Lennox Head market is buoyant with young families gravitating to the seaside town and often making the move from busier suburbs within the Northern Rivers region. Buyers are excited not only by the lifestyle but by what the area offers in terms of infrastructure, essential services and healthcare, transport, schools and resort-style living and amenities. While there was a regional shift during COVID, this shift has continued. We are seeing a migration trend of Empty Nesters from Sydney’s northern suburbs who are seeking the beachside lifestyle and attracted by the accessibility and affordability available in Lennox Head.”
