What motivated you to become an auctioneer?
I was working as an auction associate for some time for Place’s chief Auctioneer, Peter Burgin and saw it as a natural progression to learn the craft of being an auctioneer.
What do you like most about auctioneering?
I love the people, I love the transaction and I love the challenge.
What skills do you think are the most important to become a good auctioneer?
You have to be a good communicator. Communication is everything. You must be relatable and approachable.
What advice would you give to ladies who may be considering auctioneering as a career?
There’s a great opportunity for more women to be in this part of real estate. I have found that I have been really well received by Sellers, Buyers and Agents. I think they almost feel like it’s a welcome change.
What advice would you give vendors in selecting an auctioneer?
Pick an Auctioneer that is expert at making people feel comfortable and that will work really hard to get the best outcome without any shortcuts.
What do you consider is the most important role of an auctioneer?
Whilst it is important to be approachable to Buyers and an expert negotiator, ultimately you have one obligation and that’s to get the best outcome for the Seller and I take this very seriously.
