After 21 years in radio, the former 92.5 Triple M on air-personality has begun an exciting, new career in real estate. Ms Lynch – a long-time ‘Southern Gold Coaster’ – believes there are many similarities between the two roles.
“I feel like the skills you need in radio translate nicely to real estate. It’s very much about getting the best out of people communication-wise,” she said.
“It’s a skill getting people to open up. On radio, sometimes people don’t always want to talk. It’s about asking the right things, then suddenly they start talking.
“Real estate is not very different. I believe communication is first and foremost and I’m incredibly excited about this new career change.”
The recruitment of Ms Lynch is another tick for the LJ Hooker brand, particularly on the Southern Gold Coast.
Stephen Mutton, Head of Network Performance for the LJ Hooker Group, said Ms Lynch’s background and extensive local knowledge will make her an asset to the Coolangatta, Tweed and Palm Beach area. They offer a range of property services including residential and commercial.
“To have someone with such a profile join the network reflects the strength of our brand nationally as well as our team on the Southern Gold Coast, led by Daniel Alexander,” Mr Mutton said.
“Jo has proven she is a great communicator through her radio skills and that will hold her in great stead as she now enters a new and exhilarating chapter of her working life.”
Ms Lynch, mother of two boys, enjoyed buying and selling property while working in radio. But it was during the negotiation process for her new waterfront home in West Tweed Heads in August 2020, that her passion for the industry really came to the fore.
“After settlement, the agent we were dealing with turned around and said to my partner Ryan, ‘she should be in real estate’. So, I thought why not – let’s do it,” she said.
“I decided to get my real estate licence and it’s the best thing I ever did. I wish I did it 10 years ago.
“As this was a complete career change for me, I knew I had to get it right. LJ Hooker is an established and successful brand with award-winning training programs, so I felt I would be supported and offered the best opportunity. It was also very enticing to work alongside some of the big-name agents in this region.”
Daniel Alexander, principal of the LJ Hooker Coolangatta Tweed, is delighted that Ms Lynch had made the career switch and is now a part of their team.
“We are really excited to see Jo bring her vibrant personality, extensive network and people skills to the real estate industry,” he said.
“The activity in the Tweed Heads market has never been stronger and with the support of the LJ Hooker network, Jo is sure to hit the ground running.”
