What are your predictions for the 2020 market in your area?
Despite the media hype of a property downturn, I’m fairly bullish about how the property market will rebound out of COVID, particularly in the short term. Whilst there are certainly those who have the ability to sit back and wait before making a move, there are always different circumstances for different people. If the lack of supply continues for the balance of 2020, there is no doubt prices will remain strong.

Work with an interior stylist to ensure the presentation of your home is maximising the key features that it offers, then combine that with exceptional marketing and you can’t go wrong… unless another pandemic hits.

Since around mid-April, the tune of the home buyer has changed - the vast majority seem to be very willing to sit back and watch, unless a property that ticks almost every box is on offer and even then, it needs to be priced attractively. What I am hearing the most is: “We are going to hold off until Spring as we feel there will be much better buying opportunities”.
My personal view is that the extension of JobSeeker, albeit with different rules, combined with the second lockdown that we’re currently experiencing, will prove to work against those waiting as we are going to come out of this with about 12 weeks before the market shuts back down for Christmas. I’m receiving 20-30 enquiries a week even now, which gives me no doubt that there will be heavy pent up demand as we (hopefully) enter back out into the real (2020) world.
What are your interests outside of real estate?
Golf… until COVID interrupted and then our first child (born 8 July) put me into complete retirement. I keep getting told they are worth it though…

That trying to be everything to everyone doesn’t work. Ten years ago, when I first entered the industry, there was this holy grail that it seemed every agent strived for, being the “number 1 agent in the country”. More recently though, I’ve observed that many agents would rather look after a smaller selection of really good clients (and good people), do an exceptional job for them and also have the spare time during the week to spend with their family and enjoy life outside of real estate (to keep sane and focused).
