Sam Guo is Ray White's top-selling agent worldwide, and one half of a power partnership (his business partner is Julia Kuo).
Their names are synonymous with the prestige Gold Coast market, and with over $1 billion in sales under their belts, it isn't hard to see why.
Born in the Sichuan province, Sam Guo says his strong ties with China have given him an advantage selling real estate in the high flying Gold Coast market.
WILLIAMS MEDIA caught up with Sam to chat prestige property.
How did you first get into real estate?
I was born in China and came to Australia as a student in 2002 and quickly attained an MBA and then entered the retail industry. I went on to reach sales success and then one of my friends saw my strengths and told me to get into the real estate business.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
The challenges! Real estate transactions aren't easy sometimes so I love to see the good outcome after hard work and commitment.
You are Ray White’s #1 agent internationally. What do you think sets you apart from other agents?
I was born in Sichuan province which is famous for spicy food and giant pandas, so my Chinese heritage is definitely a big advantage in my sales success. The Gold Coast prestige market is emerging especially in the Chinese community, so it has become my unfair advantage of being a local agent from a Chinese background.

But also I have built up good relationships with the community which is a key part of the success of my business, along with my business partner Julia Kuo. I always believed that champions normally have different weapons, but they are not just good at one thing, they normally are strong at many things.
You have sold a lot of properties on Cronin Island. Can you tell us about the island, and what the properties on it are like?
Yes, Cronin Island is a very exclusive estate with only 34 homes on the island and they are all on the waterfront. The massive parkland in the middle makes a huge difference to the residents who live there.
People love the privacy, location and use of the parkland. It is believed one of the most influential streets on the Gold Coast even in Australia nationwide.

If you could change something in the real estate profession, what would it be?
Digital marketing is going to be big, so is personal branding and media relations.
Where do you live now, and where would you live if you could live anywhere in the world?
I currently live in Southport area near the schools and Ferry Road market. I also love Barcelona and I could definitely live there.
