Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) is celebrating National Property Managers Day (23 July) as lockdowns continue to create havoc on the industry.
REIA President, Adrian Kelly said the celebration raises awareness for the challenges property managers face in a time where there are many distressed tenants as well as landlords struggling in lockdowns.
“There are an estimated 2.7 million rentals in Australia with 80% of these properties are managed by our property managers.”
“Approximately 27% of Australians live in private rentals paying around $49 billion per annum,” he said.
Mr Kelly said that property management is a field proud to employ many women.
“Many people don’t realise that women make up 67% of the property management workforce and that these property managers can be at the forefront of dealing with social issues like domestic violence.”
“Today is about thanking all of our property managers for the role that they play in helping Australians into homes – especially in the current phase of the COVID-19 pandemic we are facing.”
