The Real Estate Institute of New South Wales (REINSW) has announced the finalists for its annual Awards for Excellence.

Now into its third decade, the Awards for Excellence is the most prestigious and respected industry awards in NSW and recognises the best, bravest and brightest work across the industry.

REINSW President, Leanne Pilkington, said this year the Awards for Excellence is bigger than ever despite the COVID-19 pandemic which brought the industry’s usual working practices to a virtual standstill.

“We have been astonished by the number of entrants into the Awards for Excellence this year," said Ms Pilkington.

"We received the highest number of entries ever which is even more gratifying as entrants were also simultaneously dealing with the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Awards for Excellence is an opportunity to highlight our industry’s greatest successes and most outstanding achievements.

"It offers much-deserved recognition for the agents who work tirelessly in their profession and for their communities.”

This year there are 11 agency categories and 12 individual categories.

Clarence White of Menck White Auctioneers is one of the finalists for the Auctioneer category.

"I’m thrilled to be amongst the podium finishers again this year," said Mr White to WILLIAMS MEDIA.

"Winning a 4th state title would be a very proud achievement if I can manage it.

"My business partner Paul Menck and I are firm believers in ’training under duress” which effectively is what auctioneering competitions are.

"We actively choose to put ourselves in an environment of challenge as that makes us grow.

Ramon Mitchell of Gault & Co was understandably excited to hear of his nomination for the Buyer's Agent category.

"Very excited to be part of the finalists this year – especially considering that my business was only launched last year," Mr Mitchell told WILLIAMS MEDIA.

"I’ve known and worked with many of the other nominees over the last decade and, to me, they continue to blaze a trail for our growing industry by ensuring the professional bar is kept high.

"The nomination is perhaps recognition that I've chosen to build a business on authentic core values and the creation of community with an emphasis on relationships and giving back."

Claire Corby of Capital Buyer's Agency was also nominated in the Buyer's Agent category and said she is humbled by her selection.

"As a buyer’s agent servicing Canberra and surrounding NSW, this is my first entry to the awards and to be chosen as a finalist has blown me away," said Ms Corby to WILLIAMS MEDIA.

"I’ve been working hard on improving the entire client experience and improving the depth of services, and to be recognised in the Buyer’s Agent of the Year category is a wonderful feeling.

"I’m looking forward to celebrating our achievements alongside industry colleagues in what’s been a tumultuous year."

REINSW have created a new Business Development Manager category which is included in this year’s program.

"We are also proud to announce that the Residential Property Manager’s Award has been renamed to the Tim Anderson OAM Residential Property Manager Award - a fitting honour indeed for a much-loved member of REINSW," said Ms Pilkington.

“As the industry evolves, new scopes of practice emerge.

“As the leading awards program for real estate in NSW, we aim to continually evaluate and improve our categories and processes.”

Adam Freitas of Raine & Horne is one such nominee for the category.

"I am extremely honoured and proud to have received this recognition from the peak body representing the real estate industry here in NSW," said Mr Freitas to WILLIAMS MEDIA.

"The BDM category is a new category for the prestigious REINSW Awards and I think it is a great move by them to introduce it this year as there are so many talented BDM’s in the industry that can now be recognised for their tireless efforts."

Ms Pilkington says finalists should be proud of their achievement.

“Being named a finalist in the Awards for Excellence is a great honour,” said Ms Pilkington.

“Finalists should share their success proudly as it is validation of a job well done."

The Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner is scheduled for 30 October 2020.
