Former Australian Rules Footballer turned high caliber auctioneer, John Rombotis is set to join the ranks of Buxton Bentleigh.
John Rombotis, who commenced his real estate career in 2000, will be joining the Buxton Bentleigh office and with him, will bring an expansive network of clients that span Victoria.
Buxton CEO, Nathan Jones, said Mr. Rombotis is a well-known operator in the real estate industry and also has built a very successful events business which fuels his circle of influence.
“We’re very excited to have John on board after six months of discussions and the fit with our Bentleigh office is perfect from a cultural perspective as well as providing a central hub for John’s consistently expanding business,” said Mr. Jones.

A former footy player for Fitzroy, Port Adelaide and Richmond in the ‘90s, Mr. Rombotis founded his own boutique agency, Rombotis Real Estate, in 2015.
Buxton Bentleigh Director, Craig Williamson, said John’s state-wide coverage will have an immediate benefit for the entire Buxton network overnight.
“John has an incredibly large network of high profile vendors and buyers, and by joining Buxton, John now also has the benefit of a 22-office network and the database of active buyers that goes along with that," he said.
“Buxton is known for having dominant market share within its core areas and is considered a powerhouse in respect to its peers.
“John could have gone to any boutique or large agency network or simply stayed put, but we’re thrilled that he’s chosen Buxton as the catalyst to expand his offering to his clients,” he said.
Mr. Rombotis chatted with WILLIAMS MEDIA about what he's most looking forward to in his new role, his advice to young people starting their careers, and why he loves real estate.
What do you enjoy the most about working in real estate?
"I love the adrenaline and meeting new people every day. The adrenaline of auctions is my favorite part of it. Coming from a background in sport, a career in real estate was the next best thing for me."
As you mentioned, you've come from a successful career in footy, and have since founded your own boutique agency, Rombotis Real Estate. What would people be surprised to know about you?
"I've got a really strong work ethic and I enjoy the challenge of getting the best result possible for the vendor. Working in real estate is full on and you work hard, but it's so satisfying."
What advice would you give to a young person starting out in real estate?
"You have to have the right work ethic and know your targets. You have to really believe in yourself and have confidence in your abilities. If you put in the hard work, you will always succeed."
What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
"I can't wait to knuckle down and really be a part of the team, suck all the information in and get different ideas from experts in the field. The Buxton Bentleigh office has 20 staff there, so I'm really looking forward to being part of a team environment again."
Where do you live now and what would be your dream home if you could live anywhere in the world?
"Currently I live in Brighton, but if I could live anywhere, it would be in Melbourne's bayside."
