Beyoncé and Jay-Z have been long-term renters in Los Angeles, but are plunging into the market with the purchase of a $113 million Bel Air mansion, billed the most expensive sale of the year.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z have bought a brand new, mega-mansion in Bel Air for $113 million (US$90 million).
The sale price is said to be a significant discount from the original $170 million (US$135 million) asking price.
The home is designed by Paul McClean, and consists of six buildings. Key features include spa facilities, a 15-car garage, panoramic views, a rooftop helipad, and bulletproof windows.
The house was developed by Dean McKillen, the son of billionaire property investor Paddy McKillen.
The most expensive sale this year in Los Angeles County was the $107 million (US$85 million) sale of David Geffen's Malibu compound.
Jay-Z is considered one of the world's best hip-hop performers, and has won nearly two dozen Grammy Awards.
Beyoncé Knowles-Carter has won 22 Grammys. She first came to fame as a member of Destiny’s Child before striking out on her own to become one of the world’s bestselling solo artists.
The couple, which is said to have a combined net worth of US$1.16 billion, have a five-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, and newborn twins, Rumi and Sir.
