Well known agent and coach Sherrie Storor will add events in Melbourne and Sydney to her Women in Real Estate Business Breakfast series.
One of Australia’s best-known real estate agents and coaches is taking her Women in Real Estate Business Breakfast national, adding events in Melbourne and Sydney to the 2018 calendar.
Sherrie Storor held the first women's networking breakfast in Brisbane last year, and after its huge success she has decided to take the event national.
"I want to create a platform and experience that is more about skill set and market knowledge, in addition to networking and collaboration for women in the industry," Storor told SCHWARTZWILLIAMS.
"I strongly feel women generally don’t stand up and shout their achievements – we are often more humble. We have some remarkable women in this industry but we don’t see them very often on the stage," she said.
"I wanted to give more women in real estate a voice, and use these women to inspire others in the industry."
Women work differently, and that's ok
"Women prospect and generate business in a different style to men," said Storor, adding that this difference is rarely talked about.
"I’m keen to promote that this (difference) is ok," she said.
Promoting collaboration within the industry
Storor also noted a significant change in the real estate industry that helps women succeed.
"A great number of agents today are friendly towards each other. This is different to days gone by, where agents were mortal enemies.
"I am keen to embrace this change," she said.
Storor said she wants those from within the industry and outside it to understand this change. "We are prepared to work together within our marketplaces, cities, states and the county," she said.
The breakfast event "is also a great opportunity to show women that they are not the only ones who might be encountering work and career issues that are generally female gender specific," she said.
Men are encouraged to attend
Storor said including men in the conversation about women in real estate is essential.
"We have so many men who are supportive of this event," she said.
"At last year’s inaugural event in Brisbane, a third of the audience were men," said Storor.
"Men attended purely to take advantage of the learning environment and content."
This year's line-up
This year's theme is 'celebrating the female skill set and achievements', and Storor has planned a line-up of industry-leading speakers who will share their personal insights into how to develop a successful career.
The speakers include Nerida Cornisbee (chief economist REA), Leanne Pilkington (CEO Laing & Simmons, president REINSW), Sadhana Smiles (CEO Harcourts), and Karuna Dimelow (COO Coronis).

Storor herself will be the keynote speaker at each event, and will talk about how women present themselves, both in the real world and on social media.
