The REINSW's fifth annual summit marked another step on the industry's journey to being recognised as a profession.
The Real Estate Institute of New South Wales' fifth annual summit explored the concept of The Future Agent, building on previous work that aims to professionalise the industry.
The summit was held in Sydney on Friday, 1 September 2017.
One hundred of NSW's most progressive and successful agents attended the invitation-only event, said REINSW President John Cunningham, raising the profile of the REINSW's ambassadors for the move towards professionalisation.
Every year, the REINSW's summit gathers industry feedback. Last year's event launched the concept of a nationally recognised professional standards scheme. "It was exciting to see that significant progress had been made,” said Cunningham.
“REINSW has been running a test case over the past six months," said Cunningham, with the aim of launching a national awareness campaign in 2018 for both agents and consumers.
The REINSW aims to apply to the professional Standards Council of Australia for approval of the REINSW scheme, according to Cunningham.
“The Summit and The Industry Think Tank on professionalism held at NSW Parliament House in July have succeeded in spreading the word and creating ambassadors that will carry this initiative to its conclusion. It is early days but progress has been swift and the excitement is building,” Cunningham said.
