Regional building approvals the "lowest on record"
Master Builders have forecast a "grim" year ahead for regional Queensland after the latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics reveal building approvals have dropped again.
ABS data shows that the total value of building work approved in Queensland increased by 89 per cent to $2.4 billion in February 2017 (seasonally adjusted) compared with 12 months previously, the highest monthly result since 2011.
With the Queensland construction industry plagued by disruptive strikes, Master Builders Queensland is calling on the senate to back the reintroduction of the ABCC.
