McGrath Manly’s Matt McEwan has negotiated the sale of a waterfront home on Sydney’s Northern Beaches ahead of its scheduled June 19 auction.
Three parties keen to secure the five-bedroom house and boatshed at 8B Beatty Street, Balgowlah Heights proffered competing bids in the lead-up to Saturday’s auction. A local family’s offer of $8.57 million saw the property sold 48 hours ahead of the scheduled auction.

The property attracted 398 enquiries and was inspected by 90 groups and ten parties took contracts. There was also international interest in the North Harbour waterfront which overlooks Manly.

Matt said that beyond the stunningly renovated 1990s house, buyers were drawn to the position just doors from 40 Baskets Beach with its swimming enclosure and picnic grounds and the National Park.
Owner Kylie Robinson said it has been a fantastic family house. “We can easily host 150 people here without overcrowding and the flow works beautifully,” she said. “We’ve celebrated 50ths, 80ths, kids’ parties, New Year’s Eve parties and we enjoy all the fireworks from weddings at St Patrick’s Estate.”

Mrs Robinson has treasured the privacy of their harbourfront home. “It’s very quiet here. We can sit on the balcony and watch everyone but no-one can see us,” she said.
With two of their three children moved out of home, the Robinsons plan to downsize nearby in Manly.
