Karbeethong Lodge is an historic homestead that is iconic to the area and has been run as a guesthouse since the 1920s.
With spectacular views over Mallacoota Inlet, Karbeethong Lodge is an historic homestead, iconic to the area and built around the turn of the last century.
The Lodge has been run as a guesthouse since the 1920s, and is a fully equipped business with an 11-year track record of growth.
Karbeethong means moonlight shining on water. Artists and poets have tried to capture the feeling of the place for nearly a hundred years, but nothing compares to being here. A large number of artists, writers and musicians have visited the lodge and Mallacoota, including E.J. Brady and Banjo Patterson, and the tradition of creativity and the arts continues in Mallacoota today.
The building is largely original, apart from the addition of ensuites, some reconfiguration of internal spaces and, of course, upgrades to evolving technology such as electricity, plumbing and wireless internet.
The Lodge consists of ten guest rooms, a lounge, a dining room, a kitchen, and outdoor areas, and sweeping verandas looking over the garden to the lake and ranges beyond.
The Lodge’s most recent refurbishment was ten years ago, with an emphasis on comfort and style while maintaining the original character.
Most of the rooms open onto the wide front veranda and enjoy spectacular views over the Mallacoota coastal inlet, famous for its sunsets. Other rooms have bush views, or open onto an internal courtyard.
The manager’s residence is compact, but contains the best room in the house. Privately located, quiet, and with great views over the water, it comprises lounge/dining room, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms. There is also a private veranda space, office and enclosed garden.
The Lodge is within walking distance of world-heritage-listed National Park, and has established fruit trees, a cottage garden, shed and access to a jetty.
Mallacoota is a small, vibrant community with social, medical and educational facilities.
