Speaking to LUXURY LIST WEEKEND, Jorge Hrdina said the design aimed to capture the northern aspect to facilitate the natural light and thermal performance of the house.

"This was further enhanced by designing the home around a central courtyard, which maximised the lineal meterage of the facade," he explained. 

"The brief was for an ‘honest’ building utilising natural materials and nothing faux. The palette was a zinc roof and off-form concrete walls crafted with textured board formwork and rammed earth, a type of off-form concrete mixed on-site with sandstone to give its unique colour and texture. Polished concrete floors with ceilings and window joinery in hardwood completed the selection of raw materials."

"The garage entrance was curled back to minimise its visual impact on arrival and maximise the terraced landscaping, originally designed by Miles Baldwin."
