Two of the real estate industry’s most respected leaders have joined forces for the first time to create a one-stop-shop masterclass to help sales and property management principals un-chain themselves from their business, scale their teams and expand faster.

The FREE Principals’ Masterclass: Agency Structure, Growth + Scale is an industry-first initiative from top Real Estate Nation coach and mentor (and former principal), Sherrie Storor, and leading real estate agency lawyer, Kristen Porter, of O*NO Legal.

The masterclass is aimed at business owners who want to maximise the value of their business, know they are legally protected and lead a lifestyle based on freedom and wealth creation.

Sherrie and Kristen said the idea for the masterclass came about over a glass of wine and while discussing the common hurdles their clients face in business, specifically growing, scaling and protecting their businesses, as well as creating succession plans and profitable exits.

“We literally started drawing up, right then and there, how we could come together to solve this for our clients and the greater industry,” Sherrie said.

“Too many principals are burnt out, feel handcuffed to their business and can’t remember the last time they took a holiday. Some even work right up until the day they die."

Sherrie said there was little discussion in the industry about creating a business with the goal of succession, selling or exiting. 

“I often find that principals are prepared to do the work if there is a long-term benefit, but often there is no strategy on how to build the business for sale to the right buyer or for an internal succession plan,” she said.

Sherrie and Kristen said the masterclass would teach principals:

• How to recruit (and retain) the right people with the ideal attitude and skill set, empowering them to take action, make decisions, and build a positive, sustainable culture for long-term success.
• How to truly grow, expand and scale in the most profitable way. This is not always about opening another office, but finding existing opportunities within the current business, including referrals between divisions, growing team members and starting EBUs to increase the lead agent’s and BDM’s revenue.
• Why properties under management are crucial for a high-value business, covering organic rent roll growth, when and how to buy a rent roll, and strategies to maximise valuation for sale or financing while generating steady monthly income.

Kristen said the masterclass would also reveal how principals can legally protect themselves and their business from Day 1, how to successfully scale their business and how to maximise its value for a seamless exit (when the time comes).

“Principals should legally protect themselves from Day 1, especially as in the early days when they are learning,” she said.

“That’s when a lot of mistakes can occur and they could be liable. 

“But, in reality, most owners focus on leads and revenue first, which is understandable, and only decide to ensure they are legally protected and structured correctly, once funds are coming in.”

Kristen said many business owners were also under the incorrect impression scaling was only for big agencies.

“This is about having the processes and structure in place to enable you to grow faster, without any growing pains or growth eating into your profits,” she said.
