With many Melburnians set to escape the cold winter and jet off overseas, one of Concierge’s more sought-after managed solutions has been the care of a client’s home while they are travelling, according to Kay & Burton Director of Concierge Cath Stubbings.

The service includes a dedicated member of the team looking after the property, with a bespoke package curated based on individual needs so clients can have full peace of mind that their property is safe and well looked after while they are away.

LUXURY LIST WEEKEND spoke to Cath about the full service offering.

What was the inspiration for this offering?

Kay & Burton Concierge is an in-house service established to meet increasing demand from our clients to access professionals and trades for their property-related and lifestyle needs. One of those needs was peace of mind when it comes to our clients’ homes while travelling. 

We know many Melburnians are planning to escape Melbourne this winter, so we wanted to ensure they knew our service can be extended to when they are travelling. For those who haven’t used Concierge before, whilst you’re enjoying the likes of Europe, Asia or even staying close by – it’s the perfect opportunity to see how Concierge can help take care of you and your property.

What can this service include? 

We work with the client to curate a bespoke service based on what they feel requires taking care of while travelling, including regularly collecting and storing mail, putting bins in and out, and performing general checks of the property several times a week. We ensure the property’s original state is maintained by tasks such as sweeping up leaves and tidying the gardens. 

A wider range of services can also include entering the home to alter lights that are on, opening and closing of window furnishings so the home looks occupied and opening the property to trades and services, including a pet concierge providing in-home care. 

Suppliers are on hand to arrange a thorough clean, window wash and garden tidy up. And we can even arrange to stock the fridge and have a fresh bunch of flowers delivered to ensure the blissful holiday feeling is maintained when arriving home.

We work with the client to curate a bespoke service based on what they feel requires taking care of while travelling, including regularly collecting and storing mail, putting bins in and out, and performing general checks of the property several times a week.

We ensure the property’s original state is maintained by tasks such as sweeping up leaves and tidying the gardens.

The base-level service starts from as little as $25 a day and includes a dedicated member of the team looking after the property who provides regular updates and is on call should anything arise.

What do repeat clients like most?

The biggest drawcard for our many clients who love using our service when travelling is knowing that everything at home is taken care of so they can make the most of their holiday. After an amazing time away, thinking about all the tasks that will need to be actioned can quickly snap you back to reality, but our clients say they return home relaxed and calm knowing it’s all been handled. 

A client in Brighton who has used our service while travelling said: “My most recent overseas travel took me far and wide and throughout the entire trip my mind was at ease knowing my house was well looked after by your team, inside and out.”

What is the most interesting request you have had?

As all clients’ needs are unique, we know that sometimes it’s the small details that matter the most. Part of our services have previously included turning on cars and moving them or being at the home to open up for the cat minder to minimise key distribution. No request is too big or small, we are always happy to accommodate.

What geographical areas do you cover?

Kay & Burton Concierge covers Metro Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, with a focus on the Stonnington, Boroondara and Bayside municipalities. 

Is there a minimum duration?

No, there is no minimum duration. We are happy to curate a service for short getaways or extended trips.
