Harcourts Signature founding Directors Greg and Candice Gottschalk are delighted to appoint Mark as their Managing Director.
“Mark has a strong background in business growth and the real estate industry in Tasmania and brings considerable knowledge to the role as Managing Director. We are extremely confident in Mark’s ability to continue the growth of Harcourts Signature”.
After joining the REIT in March 2008 as the Training and Business Development Manager and in a relatively short period of time Mark had transformed REIT Training Department and completed the implementation of the CPP Training package.
Mark said the transition for REIT Training was a simple one and one of getting back to basics. It was very clear from day one the REIT had forgotten who their customers were and why they were important. In this case the members are the customers and the members, and their staff are very important.
The culture of the REIT needed to change, and the first step was taken by Martin Harris then REIT CEO and Peter Bushby REIT President. This step was employing Mark and to support the change and vision Mark had.
Firstly, clearing the decks and implementing a workplace culture of inclusion, empowerment, respect, and trust. By bringing the staff along on the journey and enabling them to feel involved and a part of the decision-making process was fundamental to the change.
Within a few short years the REIT was back to where it should never have left and was again the go to training organisation for the majority of real estate training for REIT members.
In 2011 Mark was promoted to the position of Chief Executive Officer with the stepping down of Martin Harris due to health concerns. As CEO Marks ambition was to grow the REIT’s position as the key stakeholder in real estate in Tasmania. With outstanding Presidents such as Adrian Kelly, Tony Collidge and Michael Walsh the challenge was simple. Building relationships with government, media, sister Institutes and the Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) and most importantly the REIT members the REIT went from strength to strength.
Being elected the inaugural Chair of the Real Estate Institutes CEO group was a highlight and a strong vote of confidence in Marks ability to unite people. Mark fulfilled this role for six (6) years stepping down in 2021 providing the opportunity to Tim McKibbin of REINSW to take up the role.
Mark now welcomes the opportunity to lead Harcourts Signature with four (4) offices and over Fifty (50) staff in the next phase of the business.
“I am both honoured and humbled to be given the opportunity to lead such a successful and respected real estate business in Tasmania. The challenges will be different and exciting at the same time.
The confidence shown by both Greg and Candice has been second to none and I very much look forward to the future ahead, for not only myself, but the business and all the staff”.
