Property management is all Johnny Ho of The Agency has known in his professional life.
Despite training as an engineer, Johnny Ho did a real estate course at TAFE and he hasn't looked back. It's now 20 years later and he still loves working in property management.
What do you enjoy most about your career?
I love that I am able to meet different people all the time, and provide solutions on issues as they arise.

How did you get into real estate and property management?
I have only ever worked in property management in my professional life so far. After finishing my engineering degree I didn’t want to start working straight away. I jumped onto the TAFE website and saw the Real Estate course so I enrolled in that. After I finished the course I started working in property management.

How do you maintain great relationships with your clients?
I do my best to keep them informed all the time. I like to treat them as friends as well.
What is the best advice you have given a landlord?
Often it is best to keep a good long term tenant than trying to achieve the highest possible amount of rent.

What is the best advice you have given a tenant?
As long as you are paying the rent on the time and you look after the place, the landlord will treasure you.
How has COVID 19 changed the rental market or your role?
It is something that we have never experienced before. The amount of reduction requests, changes to how we can conduct inspections, we have learnt some new ways to carry out our tasks. We have been trying to work out the best scenarios for both landlords and tenants and are also trying our best to secure a home for some tenants who are financially impacted.
What are tenants saying?
“Can the rent be reduced due to the drop of the rental market?”
What are landlords saying?
“How is my tenant doing? Are they in good shape and plan to stay for the long term?”
What are your personal interests/hobbies?
I follow almost every type of sport especially soccer, basketball and volleyball. Since I was a kid I've always been a car enthusiast. I used to own an Alfa Romeo, so fast cars are definitely my favourite. I have recently become a proud dog owner to Macha who is 2.5 years old. I spend lots of time with her on weekends.

What drives you every day?
Being positive and never taking things personally. Property management can be a very negative role, we are dealing with issues everyday and hardly get praised for it. At the end of the day I always look forward to seeing my family at home.
