Western Australia’s leading property expert Damian Collins launches a new podcast series aimed at helping Australians create financial freedom at any age.
Forget waiting until 67 to enjoy life – that’s the message from Western Australia’s leading property expert Damian Collins as he launches a new podcast series aimed at helping Australians create financial freedom at any age.
Building on his Amazon best-selling book, Property Investing Roadmap: How to build an income from property for life, Mr Collins has created the Property Investing Roadmap podcast to help everyone achieve success in property investment.
Early in the series, an episode titled Future proof your lifestyle: why investing matters, challenges traditional retirement thinking and discusses how strategic property investment can fund better lifestyle choices through all stages of life, not just in the golden years.
“The traditional model of working non-stop until retirement age is outdated,” said Mr Collins, Managing Director of Momentum Wealth and Chairman of Westbridge Funds Management.
“Through smart property investment, people can create the passive income they need to take breaks, pursue passions, or change careers – at many stages of life.”
The episode features award-winning financial planner Fran Hughes discussing how early investment planning can create opportunities for ‘mini-retirements’ – strategic career breaks that allow people to enjoy life while they're young and healthy, rather than waiting for traditional retirement age.
“What we're seeing is a shift away from the traditional work-until-67 model,” Mr Collins explained.
“Through strategic property investment, people can create passive income streams that give them more lifestyle choices throughout their working life, not just in retirement.”
The episode highlights the financial realities facing many Australians, with Ms Hughes noting that a couple relying solely on the age pension may challenge many people's retirement lifestyle expectations.
“Many Australians assume superannuation and the pension will be enough for a comfortable retirement,” Mr Collins said.
“But with the pension age already at 67 and mounting pressure on the system, we’re encouraging people to take control of their financial future through strategic property investment.”
Drawing on his 30 years of experience in both residential and commercial real estate, podcast host, Mr Collins, and his expert guests explore how property investment can provide financial freedom at any stage of life.
The podcast challenges common misconceptions about property investment being only for high income earners or those with existing portfolios.
“One of the key messages is that it's never too early – or too late – to start investing,” Mr Collins said.
“Whether you’re in your 20s just starting out, or in your 50s thinking about retirement, there are strategic approaches that can work for your situation.
“We believe that while residential properties are a good start to your investment journey, they shouldn't be your final destination.
“Commercial property can play a crucial role in helping you build a lasting income stream. The best part is you don't need to be a real estate mogul to own quality commercial properties.”
Other topics covered include understanding critical tax advantages, identifying promising investment properties, and implementing proven buy-and-hold strategies.
Each episode brings together insights from industry experts across property management, acquisitions, research, and finance, ensuring listeners receive well-rounded, practical advice for their investment journey.
“Whether you're planning your financial goals for 2025, looking to secure your retirement, or wanting to create passive income streams that give you more lifestyle choices, you'll find practical, actionable guidance," Mr Collins said.
“It’s about making good investment decisions earlier in life that can really set you up financially for the future and give you choices – and that’s the critical thing we want listeners to understand.”
The Property Investing Roadmap the podcast will be available on all major podcast platforms including: Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music
