Wanda One Sydney has donated $75,000 to the Children's Tumour Foundation, a not-for-profit that supports children with a rare genetic disorder known as Neurofibromatosis.
Wanda One Sydney held a morning tea event at Goldfields House, Sydney, to present a donation of $75,000 to the Children's Tumour Foundation, a not-for-profit organistion that supports children with a rare genetic disorder known as Neurofibromatosis (NF).
NF affects 1 in 3,000 people, making it more common than cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and Huntington's disease combined. NF can cause abnormalities in the spine, hearing loss, severe pain, and malignant tumours.
The Wanda donation will go towards funding a specialist nurse position to help children with NF at Westmead Children's Hospital, will fund treatments at Royal North Shore Hospital, and will also go towards helping the Children's Tumour Foundation deliver its services around Australia.
Richard Hughes, CEO of the Children’s Tumour Foundation, said, “There has been an increase in NF surveillance investigations and clinical trial treatments offered by the hospitals, thus requiring a need for a clinical nurse to help coordinate hospital visits and investigations, while also supporting families.”
John Wei, Managing Director of Wanda One Sydney, said, “Wanda One Sydney is deeply committed to building a meaningful connection with the local community where we live and work by collaborating with local charity groups.
“We will work closely with the Children’s Tumour Foundation to strengthen the treatment and support of children with NF."
Wanda Group is the world's largest property company.
