The juggernaut that is Ray White Surfers Paradise lead by industry titans Andrew and Greg Bell has undergone a “generational reset” which will see it divided up and three new ownership groups brought in.
The juggernaut that is Ray White Surfers Paradise has undergone a “generational reset” which will see it divided up and three new ownership groups brought in.
Andrew Bell and his brother Greg Bell originally purchased Ray White Surfers Paradise 36 years ago and grew it to become a powerhouse in the industry. The Bell’s grew their office from a 16-person team to a network of 11 offices at one point with more than 300 staff, and they pioneered new business arms within Ray White Surfers Paradise.
With the ink barely dry on the contracts, it can be confirmed that Andrew Bell has now sold Ray White Surfers Paradise along with his satellite offices of Benowa and Main Beach.
Ray White Queensland CEO Jason Andrew said the change represented a generational reset for the group’s leadership on the Gold Coast.
“Andrew and Greg Bell have been best in market stewards since 1989 and our new leaders now get their chance,” he said.
“There has been a national search for talent to take on this exceptional enterprise built by Andrew Bell. But there can only be one AB, and we have found three groups of new leaders to take his business over.
“We acknowledge we have had a few false starts at this succession plan, that is not a secret, but I believe we have found the right people to lead and move Ray White forward on the Gold Coast.
“The focus for Ray White Queensland was to drive the success beyond even our halcyon days with new leadership.”
Andrew and Greg Bell will remain a principal and owner of Ray White Southport, Ray White Hope Island and RWC Gold Coast. He also retains his property management business.
Ray White Surfers Paradise is now in the capable hands of Mitch Peereboom and Christian Hamilton. This is their second business, and the pair of young guns will continue to own Ray White Wilston in Brisbane’s inner north. In the last 12 months since they bought Ray White Wilston the pair have doubled the performance of that business.
“The pair will continue to lead Wilston, but now they have RWSP which will open a lot of opportunities for them.”
Jason Andrew said the pair had signed a landmark seven year renewal for both businesses, which demonstrated the commitment from both sides.
The Main Beach office is now owned by Michael Willems, and re-branded Ray White Bespoke. Michael Willems is a prolific agent in our history, formally a key player for Ray White’s dominance in high end property. His departure to commercial saw him rise through those ranks and his return demonstrates the group’s commitment to representing luxury Gold Coast real estate. This superstar agent can boast being the first agent in Australia’s biggest property group to ever reach over $1 billion in settled sales.
Ray White Benowa is now owned by Simon Finlayson, Brad Wilson and Jason Atkinson who already own Ray White Alliance, based at Coomera who are currently a top 10 Queensland business. This will be their second business together. The momentum they have created in the north end of the Gold Coast will drive Ray White’s presence in this market.
The new ownership structures will take effect on May 12.
The Surfers Paradise succession plan comes hot on the heels of the one that saw the former Ray White NSW CEO Andrew McCulloch buy out Ali Mian on the Gold Coast. Andrew McCulloch is the new owner of Ray White Shore Group with offices in Sovereign Island, Paradise Point, Runaway Bay and Pacific Pines. He is one of the most experienced young operators in the country, with a 20 year career spanning across Australia and New Zealand.
Likewise, Steve Mutton, a highly respected industry leader, was recently welcomed back to Ray White at Robina. Steve, who previously made significant contributions to Ray White on the Gold Coast where he owned six offices at one stage, then spent the past seven years as the head of real estate for another franchised network. He has returned and joined forces with Scott and Grant Burgess at Ray White Robina.
