There are currently 2,758 capital city homes scheduled for auction this week, up from 2,640 last week and 2,963 this time last year.
Melbourne is set to host 1,222 auctions this week, after 1,161 homes were taken to auction last week. Over the same week last year, 1,375 auctions were held across the city.
Sydney is expecting to see an increase in auction volume this week, with 1,082 homes currently scheduled to go under the hammer. The previous week saw 994 homes taken to auction, while this time last year, 1,081 auctions were held.
Across the smaller capitals, Brisbane (176) and Adelaide (169) are the busiest auction markets this week, followed by Canberra (94), Perth (14) and Tasmania (1).
There are currently just under 2,500 capital city homes set for auction across the combined capital cities next week.
Summary of last week’s results
There were 2,640 homes taken to auction across the combined capitals last week, down from 2,898 over the previous week and 2,949 over the same week last year.
Holding below the 60% mark for the sixth consecutive week, the combined capital city clearance rate came in at 57.3% last week, in line with the previous week (57.3%). This time last year, 60.8% of reported auctions were successful.
There were 1,161 auctions in Melbourne last week, compared to 1,340 the previous week and 1,309 this time last year. Melbourne’s clearance rate slipped further last week (56.4%), overtaking the previous week (56.9%) as the second lowest clearance rate so far this year. This time last year, 57.7% of auctions were successful.
There were 994 homes taken to auction across Sydney last week, down from 1,098 over the previous week and 1,142 this time last year. Sydney’s final clearance rate came in at 59.0% last week, up from 57.9% over the previous week. This time last year, 63.9% of Sydney auctions were successful.
Brisbane (235) was the busiest auction market across the smaller capitals last week, followed by Adelaide (140), Canberra (95) and Perth (15). Perth recorded the highest clearance rate at 66.7%, followed by Adelaide (57.9%), Brisbane (56.2%) and Canberra (50.0%). There were no auctions in Tasmania last week.
