After a year off due to the pandemic, Australia and New Zealand property auctioneers will finally vie for the industry’s most prestigious award, the Australasian Auctioneering Championships (AUSTROS).
REIA President, Mr Adrian Kelly said it was exciting and extremely welcome news that AUSTROS is back and better than ever.
“After the sad but necessary decision to forgo AUSTROS in 2020 and following an exceptional start to 2021, the news has reinvigorated the industry.
“There have been mass take-ups of virtual auctions through to an explosion in auction clearance rates, so we would expect these new skills to make this year’s AUSTROS the most competitive yet,” Mr Kelly said.
Chair of the AUSTROS Steering Group and Chief Judge, Mr Thomas McGlynn, said both Australia and New Zealand property markets have seen unprecedented sales results.
“Auctioneers have been very much part of this success story so we look forward to seeing how the hammer falls at AUSTROS 2021.”
“AUSTROS has been running since 1991 and recognises the best of the best in Australasia’s property auctioneers.”
Mr McGlynn said that in the meantime, aspiring auctioneers should speak with their State or Territory Institute, or REINZ institute on how to participate in your local competition to get the chance to compete in AUSTROS 2021.
AUSTROS will be held in Sydney from 17 – 19 October 2021. Announcements on venue to follow.
