Distinguished industry executive Gavin Croft has been appointed Director of Growth for UrbanX, Australia’s leading support platform for high-performance real estate agents.
Mr Croft will head the UrbanX growth program, designed to help agents achieve business and personal milestones under their own brand.
“I’m really excited about this new role with UrbanX, and being at the forefront of our industry’s evolution,” Mr Croft said.
Mr Croft’s role will see him work to expand the list of UrbanX agents and assist them in building lucrative, self-branded businesses.
“The program I oversee is designed to work with agents on the development and leadership of their business. The goal will be to increase their earnings by 20 per cent year-on-year, with the ultimate outcome of seeing them becoming $1-million-plus income earners.
“I’ll also be developing new partnerships. We’re looking for the next crop of agents who want to go out on their own and realize their aspirations.”
Mr Croft has held a string of high-profile positions with national groups in Australia and New Zealand and said now was an exciting time to be joining UrbanX.
“Agency has gone through enormous change since I started my career, and that change is only going to speed up in the next few years. Frankly, the future will be nothing like the past,” Mr Croft said.
“In fact, any business that isn’t agent-centric will be left behind in the next few years.
“I’ve covered many facets of the industry from doing 100 transactions in a year, to running my own office, to being COO, so I’ll be transferring that experience to bring value to UrbanX agents.
“After so long working at the executive-level of large franchise groups, I’ve seen how the relationship between businesses, their agents and customers has transformed. Realising what someone's looking for with work satisfaction and goals and helping them achieve that is really important. It's not just about listing and selling real estate.”
“Also, we need to better understand what today's consumers need from a real estate agent and how we can support that. By infusing the agent and consumers needs together, we’re able to help both better achieve better outcomes.”
Mr Croft said UrbanX have developed a program for agents who are keen to grow.
“It’s about us and the agents working together through support and accountability. That way, we can design a path that helps them achieve what they want to achieve.”
“This includes developing strong business principals and practice. When someone's got a good strong practice and consumers see it, they gravitate to those agents and want to use them. They become recognised by sellers as the go-to specialist in their chosen area, which leads to more listings, sales and commissions.”
Mr Croft said by holding their agents accountable and utilising training, mentorship, bi-annual conferences and leadership gatherings, the UrbanX model had already helped change the lives for its first crop of partners.
“Clinton Eastell, of Eastell and Co, has grown his income to $860,000 per year after earning less than half of that with his previous employer.
“And Remy Durieux of Remy’s Real Estate is on track to become a $1-million agent in his first year with UrbanX – and that’s after making just $220,000 per year in his last role.”
Mr Croft said he can’t wait to get started helping more professionals realise their dreams.
“I shared Dan's (Dan Argent, UrbanX CEO) passion for developing agents. It’s been a really big part of my journey as a business owner, as a trainer, as a coach and as an auctioneer. Helping agents succeed is something that I wake up each day and genuinely enjoy doing. So being able to do that with more scale and having some real influence in that space with UrbanX… I just can’t wait.”
