REAL Specialists agents James Shugg and Ray White Murwillumbah's Brad Franks were among those to enjoy success at the agency's auction night last Wednesday, contributing three out of the four properties sold under the hammer.

Mr Franks had 16 registered bidders for 20 Banora Terrace, Bilambil Heights, which eventually sold for $880,000, while Mr Shugg managed to sell 71 Pearl Street, Kingscliff for $1.18 million, $130,000 above the reserve.

The eventual buyer of the Pearl Street property registered halfway through the auction and was yet to inspect the property.

Mr Shugg was also involved in the sale of 5/4 Mugga Way, Tweed Heads for $640,000, teaming up with Brent Hodge to market the unit.

The other property to sell on the night was 1607/88 Mairne Parade, Coolangatta for $927,500 through Wayne Bisgrove, giving REAL Specialists an overall clearance rate of 80 per cent from the event.

Mr Shrugg said the surrounding areas of the properties sold had come into focus for buyers since the onset of COVID-19.

"With more people working from home, there is less of a necessity to live in the big smoke," he said.

"There is also infrastructure being added to areas such as Kingscliff, which will benefit from the Tweed Heads Hospital development.

"People from the big cities are realising they can liquidate and downsize their mortgage to live in a great little locale."
