A client recently wrote to Paul Arthur, CEO of Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty to compliment one of his team, Ryan Canilho. Nothing unusual in that, as the Sotheby’s brand is renowned for its world-class service.

But what did impress Mr Arthur is he had no indication from Mr Canilho to expect such a glowing letter from his clients.

“What makes this so warm and special is that I’ve not heard one comment directly from Ryan – in other words, no chest beating – he simply has gone about his business and delivered the most genuine performance of client services,” said Mr Arthur.

Mr Canilho recently sold the prestige property, 121 Sheehan Avenue, Hope Island to Victorian couple, Mr Lupco and Biljana Oreskov. The couple, like many from the southern state were looking to relocate to Queensland and were searching for their new home. After seeing several unsuitable properties, they came across a Hope Island property, listed with Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty.

According to the letter the couple’s daughter Adriana Oreskov wrote to Mr Arthur, Mr Canilho had dropped everything to arrange an inspection the very day they inquired. “Needless to say, within 15 minutes of being in the house they made an offer,” said Ms Oreskov.

After returning to Victoria, the couple faced many obstacles, given the state was in the grips of a second wave and impending lockdown. Adding to the stress, the solicitor charged with handling the purchase of the property was extremely unhelpful and frustrating.

However, according to Ms Oreskov, this is where Mr Canilho stepped up. “Ryan took [the] initiative and showed outstanding leadership by going above and beyond during this time.

“I cannot begin to tell you how hard these lockdown measures have been for us Victorians and your agent has gone above and beyond to ensure the experience for my parents is nothing short of a 10 out of 10,” said Ms Oreskov.

“My partner and I are considering moving our young family to Queensland as well as my brother and his girlfriend, and I can tell you right now that Ryan is the only agent I want to deal with.

“The experience with him has been world class, it has changed my view of real estate agents, the level of care, compassion and leadership shown by him does not leave me surprised if he becomes a director in your company.”

According to Sotheby’s Mr Arthur, the testimonial from Ms Oreskov not only made for “beautiful reading,” but it exhibited “how Mr Canilho delivered the most genuine performance of client services – he shared his humanity.”
