From an historical house bought via video, a record-breaking off-the-plan sale, a purchase of a TV setting, a swimming star's record sale and a first home buyer, agents from South Australia Sotheby's International Realty, The Agency, Ray White and McGrath Estate Agents have been busy.
This week CoreLogic reported that the combined capital city preliminary auction clearance rate held firm relative to last week across a lower volume of auctions.
There were 823 homes taken to auction over the week, down from 866 over the previous week and 1,639 this time last year.

Of the 657 results collected so far, 67.3 per cent were successful, roughly equivalent to last week’s preliminary figure of 67.5 per cent which later revised down to 60.5 per cent at final collection.

Queensland
The Sunshine state's capital recorded 82 auctions with a clearance rate of 40.4 per cent.
A grand estate of historic significance, 'Foley House' at 75 Woodstock Road, Toowong is a treasured c1916 home and has recently sold through McGrath Estate Agents for $2.55 million as a cash sale.
It was last traded in 2000 and has been bought by an Australian expat couple living in Singapore.

The couple bought the property after watching a WhatsApp video sent by agent Alex Jordan.
“Foley House is one of the original Queenslanders of Toowong," said Mr Jordan to WILLIAMS MEDIA.
"It’s rich with character features and it has been sympathetically modernised internally to fit the lifestyle elements families are wanting.
"It’s within close walking distance to Toowong Shopping Centre and business precinct.

Apollo Auctions saw a 68.8 per cent clearance of properties sold through their auctions in Queensland on the weekend.
"The auction results continued to go from strength to strength with another week resulting in an overall clearance in excess of 60%," said Justin Nickerson of Apollo Auctions to WILLIAMS MEDIA.
"The number of average registered bidders this week was a feature - hitting a yearly high.
"Even with this surge - the active bidding percentage remained consistent - leading to the strong overall result."

At Yeronga, Christine Rudolph of Ray White New Farm has sold swimming royalty Susie O'Neill's riverfront property under the hammer for $3,055,000.

"It was a nail-biting finish with two spirited bidders going head to head with a final bid of $5000 landing the coveted trophy home," said Ms Rudolph.
"So thrilled to be part of the A team for such an outstanding campaign."
Ms Rudolph said while there were two registed bidders, 200+ groups had viewed the property which resulted in a Yeronga 2020 sale record.
NSW
Sydney was host to 606 auctions this week, similar to last week when 608 auctions were held, although higher than this time last year when 585 homes were taken to auction.
Of the 507 auction results collected so far, 70.4 per cent were successful, up slightly from last week’s preliminary result of 69.5 per cent which revised down to 62.3 per cent at final results.
This time last year, Sydney recorded a final auction clearance rate of 76.0 per cent.
A very unique property and also the set for Channel 10's The Living Room is 198-200 Australia Street, Newtown has sold for a local record price of $5.8 million through agent Brad Gillespie of The Agency.

The price was adjusted in late August and sold it within 17 days of the adjustment.
Mr Gillespie has broken the Newtown record by $750k.
"Everyone was aware this iconic home was on the market for some time," said Mr Gillespie to WILLIAMS MEDIA.
"The clients, Bob and Gay Miller, and I were on the same page about waiting for the right buyer.
"Someone who was interested in this truly unique home.
"I have been representing my clients for the right reasons in order to find the right buyers. "
Victoria
Auction activity fell to a new record low across Melbourne this week with just 14 homes taken to auction while the city remains in lockdown.
Of the 11 results collected so far, just 3 were successful (all sold prior to auction), while the remaining 8 auction results were reported as withdrawn, dragging the preliminary
clearance rate down to 27.3 per cent.
Over the previous week, 28 auctions were held across the city, while this time last year, 826 Melbourne homes were taken to auction.
South Australia
The clearance rate for Adelaide was 75.9 per cent, the second highest for the week across the capital cities, after 53 properties went to auction.
In Adelaide Grant Giordano of South Australia Sotheby's International Realty has recently sold a property that is described as a unique collaboration between a visionary architect, a luxury builder and a premium international real estate brand.
These were the words to describe 13 Mills Terrace, North Adelaide which sold for a record breaking price for an off-the-plan semi detached sale.

"The property sold for $4.4 million to an interstate purchaser seeking the ideal downsizer without compromise," said Mr Giordano to WILLIAMS MEDIA.

ACT
The highest clearance rate at 83 per cent was experienced by the nationa's capital with 55 auctions.
Opportunities for first home buyers are being snapped up in the ACT with McGrath selling one property at 113 McKillop Circuit, Kambah for over the reserve price by $15,000.

"There were 5 registered bidders and of the 5, 4 were competing competitively for the property," said agent Alexandra Deschanel to WILLIAMS MEDIA.
"The successful buyers are local and first home buyers.
"Throughout our marketing campaign we had 38 groups inspect the property.
"We have met many of these buyers over the last few months at other properties in and around Kambah, searching mainly for their first homes."
Perth
A clearance rate of 20 per cent was experienced in the Perth market with 11 auctions going to market.
