WILLIAMS MEDIA shares what other companies are doing when it comes to combating Coronavirus in the workplace.
As the Australian working force looks to ways to stay safe from contracting the Coronavirus, WILLIAMS MEDIA reports on what some businesses are doing to stay ahead of the pandemic.
At peer-to-peer car sharing platform Car Next Door, almost half of all staff members work remotely – with team members checking in from Stradbroke Island and the Adelaide Hills as well as the suburbs of Sydney and Melbourne.
If a business was looking at setting up its staff to work remotely to help curb the spread of the virus, Car Next Door co-founder and CTO, Dave Trumbull, said there is a level of flexibility for the team as it provides tangible benefits both to the business and to employees.

“Car Next Door has its headquarters in Sydney, but we also offer several co-working offices around the country and the work from home option," said Mr Trumbull.
"Not all roles can be performed remotely, but if it’s work that can be done outside of the office, then we allow that staff member to choose the scenario that best suits them.”
Mr Trumbull shares some tips to help get the most out of a remote working scenario:

McGrath Estate Agents announced that it will proactively trial a safe working environment for its team operating from its Pyrmont Headquarters and a select number of six sales offices in Sydney Metro precincts for a 24 hour period next Monday.
“While we have not been impacted internally, we want to proactively plan and test our operating systems to ensure our business continues to run smoothly and effectively should the need arise to work remotely," said McGrath CEO Geoff Lucas.
“We believe this is a prudent and wise measure to mitigate the risks of the spread of COVID-19 in light of the World Health Organisation’s advice for governments and businesses to step up their containment efforts.
“We have been keeping a close eye on any developments with the Coronavirus as the health of clients and staff are of the utmost importance.
"We have developed a range of contingencies should the situation requires, however we have not found it necessary to implement any measures at our open homes inspections and auctions at this point.
“We are fortunate in having recently implemented new enhanced technology platforms so our sales teams have advanced tools to service clients remotely, quickly and safely.”
Mr Lucas added that the company has urged its team to be aware of the increased hygiene practices, and refrain from handshaking and the regular use of hand sanitisers as precautionary measures.
