New community Halcyon Armstrong Creek attracts first home buyers.
Enthusiastic first home buyers have camped out to secure affordable land at new masterplanned community Halcyon Armstrong Creek.
The project, by Jinding Developments in partnership with Yolk Property Group and landowners the Harkness family, has seen unprecedented success in recent days with 75 per cent of lots in Stage 1A contracted within the first hour of selling, with the majority of purchasers being first and second home buyers.
Jinding Developments managing director Liz Ronson says the existing amenity, location between Geelong CBD and the Surf Coast, and affordability were a winning combination.
“The sales results from our first weekend ultimately show the confidence in the Armstrong Creek housing market and its growing popularity as an ideal place to live for first home buyers," said Ms Ronson.
“We are pleased we can offer this lifestyle at such an affordable entry point and are overwhelmed by the commitment of those who camped overnight to make sure they secured their lot.
“Home buyers did not want to miss out and this highlights the great value for money we are offering and the need for more affordable housing."
Halcyon Armstrong Creek is a 94-hectare residential community situated 10km from Geelong CBD.
Surrounded by natural wetlands, the new community is located close to existing shops, public transport, schools and restaurants.
Savvy purchasers made their move in an area set to be boosted by considerable price growth.
The 2019 UDIA Residential Development Index indicates the City of Greater Geelong experienced an increase in median lot price of approximately 21 per cent last financial year.
“Geelong is a great alternative to Melbourne for people looking for housing affordability with the added benefit of a more relaxed lifestyle,” said Mr Ronson.
First home buyer Jesse White, a 22 year-old travel agent from East Geelong, camped in his car overnight to buy into the highly sought-after Halcyon Armstrong Creek estate.
“There’s a lot of demand for reasonably priced land in a good location such as this so I was willing to camp out so I wouldn’t miss out," said Mr White.
“It’s a large growth area and it’s an exciting opportunity to have this as my first property purchase.
“It’s tough being a first home buyer but I’m rapt with my purchase. I have even picked up a second job to make sure I can build a house once the land titles.”
