Adelaide's first 'smart' exhibition home was launched in Lightsview this week, giving visitors an insight into what the Internet of Things could mean for home technology.
A new level of household control is being showcased in the Adelaide suburb of Lightsview this week through the city's first 'smart' exhibition home.
Developed through Regent Homes, in conjunction with Clipsal by Schneider Electric and Stepney-based Envy Electrical and Automation, the five-bedroom, three-bathroom house features technology that allows visitors to control the lighting, speakers, fans, curtains and television with the sound of their own voice.
Regent Homes General Manager Ryan Gazzard said there had been an enthusiastic response to home since it had been opened, indicating South Australians were ready to embrace a new level of household innovation.
"Since opening the home we’ve had hundreds of visitors come through, and their feedback has been overwhelmingly positive,” he said.
“This technology is resonating really well with customers, and I believe consumer interest in this area will keep increasing, as the technology is now within reach for all new home owners.
“With people living such busy lives these days, there’s a real appetite out there for any type of technology that makes our lives easier, and enhances the way we live in our homes."

Data from emerging technology analyst firm Telsyte showed that the Australian Internet of Things (IoT) at home market grew 57 per cent over a 12 month period to $1.1 billion in 2018, and is forecast to reach $5.3 billion by 2023.
Schneider Electric Residential Building Manager Marcus Reilly said smart home technology was becoming increasingly accessible to Australians.
“Home automation can deliver improved energy efficiency and lower power bills, and we also find people are seeking improved safety for the family, and the ability to easily create moods with lighting, blinds and music," he said.
The Regent Smart Home is open from 12pm to 5pm Saturday, Sunday and Public holidays, and from 1pm to 5pm on Monday and Wednesday. It is located at the Modern Masters Collection on Rhind Road in Lightsview.
