Southbank’s first pop-up apartment will be open for Melburnians to visit this weekend
All visitors to Melbourne’s Southbank pop-up apartment will have the chance to register for a free one-month stay at Forge Apartments at Yarra’s Edge.
The initiative, jointly co-ordinated by Australian Apartment Advocacy (AAA) and Mirvac will provide three groups of people the opportunity to sample an apartment lifestyle –no strings attached-from November this year.
AAA Director Samantha Reece said recent research by the organisation showed 60% of potential buyers were concerned about some aspect of apartment living.
At a glance:
• 60% of potential buyers are concerned with apartment living
• AAA and Mirvac will provide three groups of people the opportunity to sample apartment living for free
• Pop-up apartment will be located in front of Ludlow Bar, Southbank open from Friday 20 September to Sunday 22 September from 9.00am-5.00pm.
“They are worried about privacy, noise, lack of storage or even heights, and as such this one month stay allows people to test their concerns and hopefully bust some myths,” said Ms Reece.
“Located on the riverfront and within a short stroll to the CBD this is an ideal location for an apartment trial and the opportunity to see just how convenient this lifestyle is.”

Mirvac GM Elysa Anderson said that a similar trial conducted between AAA and Mirvac in WA had led to a high level of success.
“After seeing the conversion rates at our Claremont project, we understood that for many people taking the leap of faith from a traditional home into an apartment can be daunting,” said Ms Anderson.
“This trial is the perfect chance for anyone who has been considering this lifestyle but has a level of hesitancy and would virtually like to try, before they buy.”
The two-bedroom apartment at Forge Apartments will be completely furnished, with residents just needing to bring themselves, their clothes and linen.
The pop-up apartment will be located just in front of Ludlow Bar on Southbank and is open from Friday 20 September to Sunday 22 September from 9.00am-5.00pm.
The AAA is a not-for-profit agency and represents the voices of people who own and choose apartment living as their preferred household choice.
The Advocacy group undertakes regular research to inform Government and Developers about buyer trends.
