Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Mirvac Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz has taken on the role of Chair of the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA).
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Mirvac Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz has been appointed Chair of the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA), taking over from Rod Fehring who steps down after two years in the role.
Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz joined the GBCA Board as a Director in 2013.
“The GBCA has played a critical role collaborating with industry to improve sustainability across many areas of Australia’s built environment,” Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz said.
“Now our challenge is to extend these benefits to other sectors of the property industry, including homes and social infrastructure, so more people can live the benefits of greener properties.
“We will also continue our focus on net zero carbon buildings and expanding the net-zero goal across the industry.”
Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz is driving a strong sustainability agenda at Mirvac, which has committed to being net positive carbon by 2030.
She recently completed her two-year term as National President of the Property Council of Australia from 2017 to 2019, during a time of significant public debate over property and climate policy issues.
GBCA Chief Executive Officer Davina Rooney welcomed the appointment of Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz and paid tribute to outgoing chair Rod Fehring, Chief Executive of Frasers Property Australia.
“Rod has overseen the GBCA focus on net-zero carbon buildings, leading the ambitions for sustainability in property in Australia,” she said.
“We thank him for his significant and ongoing efforts to build more healthy, resilient and liveable places for Australians to live, work and play.
“When Rod started his term at the GBCA we had around 1500 projects certified. This has grown to more than 2350 over the two-year period.
“Rod has also overseen a smooth succession process as Romilly Madew took up a new role as CEO of Infrastructure Australia after serving the GBCA as CEO for thirteen years.”
