The Real Estate Institutes of Western Australia and New South Wales have held their respective Senior Auctioneering Competition finals, with the top two from each event set to compete in the Australasian competition in Melbourne during October.
The New South Wales and Western Australian representatives for this year's Australasian Auctioneering Competition have been confirmed following the senior state finals this week.
Tom Esze triumphed in the REIWA Auctioneering Championships held at Wembley Golf Course on Wednesday, with Adam Piller the runner-up.
REIWA President Damian Collins said as auctions continued to grow momentum for the unique buying and selling opportunities they create, auctioneering standards in WA would also rise.
“The talent we have on display during these championships is impressive and serves as a strong benchmark for WA auctioneering standards," he said.
“While it’s pleasing to see sellers and buyers becoming more open to this method of sale, we still have a long way to go until we can compete with the likes of Sydney and Melbourne, where auctions dominate the sales landscape.
“Auctions remain a niche segment of the WA sales market, however they are becoming increasingly popular with sellers who are wanting their listing to stand out in a competitive market."
In REINSW senior finals held on Thursday, Clarence White and Leon Axford were announced as the top two, with the winner to be announced at the Institute's Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner on 19 September 2019.

All four competitors will represent Australia in the Australasian Auctioneering Championships to be held in Melbourne during October.
It was a case of seventh time's a charm for Mr Axford, who has been competing in the championships for the past six years.
He told WILLIAMS MEDIA progressing to the next stage had been a goal of his for a while.
"I've put a lot of work into getting better incrementally each year," he said.
"This year's result just comes down to hard work and learning from my mistakes."
