Former aviation salesperson Meryl Carter is hoping to take Sotheby's to new heights in Western Australia as Director of its new Riverside location.
Sotheby's International Realty has reinforced its presence in the Perth market, appointing Meryl Carter as Director of its new Riverside location.
It's the second Western Australian office for the company, following their expansion to the state in October last year.
Ms Carter joins Sotheby's from her own agency, Which Door Property Group, which has operated out of Perth for the past six years.
She told WILLIAMS MEDIA she was excited to take her career to the next level as part of the Sotheby's brand.
"The brand is so elegant, powerful and confidential," she said.
"The global reach of Sotheby's is something you can't get anywhere else.
"A lot of really good real estate agents who have made it can't propel themselves to the next level because they are a local brand in a local area.
"Sotheby's has the incredible ability to open doors that would have otherwise stayed closed if it were me just using my name."
Ms Carter brings a wealth of international sales experience to the role, having spent time at Bombardier Business Jets, as well as several global firms.
She said her experience selling jets had taught her an important lesson about luxury sales.
"I sold my first jet to a gentleman who was living in Sydney but travelling in New York," she said.
"No one knew he had bought this jet and he didn't want anyone to know.

"Confidentiality was the key to why I was successful in that environment and it is part of the beauty of working for a luxury brand."
Ms Carter's appointment comes at a time when the Western Australian market is showing signs of recovery following an extended downturn.
Data released by the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia last month revealed there had been increased demand in Perth's luxury market, with the median house price rising in suburbs such as Mount Pleasant.
Ms Carter said she expected a continuation of what had been occurring so far this year, although not to the extent which has been forecast by some outlets.
"When the market is down in Sydney and Melbourne, the Perth market has been known to improve," she said.
"I think Sydney and Melbourne will continue to slide but not to the degree that everyone is talking.
She said it was important to remember that Sotheby's was not limited to individual properties.
"I've had a phone call recently to list a $15 million property on the water, but the same vendor also has 25 units in a suburb and wants to sell the complex to an investor," she said.
"We will take that on because someone in Hong Kong will probably buy it.
"That's where our global marketing comes in."
