Employees from CoreLogic came together on International Women's Day for the Homes for Hope initiative.
As a company that prides itself on being one of the leading sources of property information in Australia, CoreLogic knows the value of a home.
Employees from the company had the chance to effect positive change within the sector earlier this month as part of the International Women's Day Homes for Hope initiative.
A group of 65 volunteers formed part of a 456-strong team from 18 companies across Australia to support the cause, which is organised through Habitat for Humanity.
To mark 2019 International Women’s Day, the team renovated six women’s refuges and transitional accommodation for some of Australia’s most vulnerable women, while also helping to build homes in regional Victoria and Adelaide.
CoreLogic Human Resources Executive Kate Rimer told WILLIAMS MEDIA Habitat for Humanity shared many of the same values as CoreLogic.
"There was an overwhelming response when we first announced we were going to partner with them because what they do is so well aligned with our business," she said.
"The 65 spots were filled within days and there has been an amazing reaction from those involved.
"Volunteers have learnt skills such as painting, while also getting a deeper insight into the causes of homelessness for women and children and why it is such a critical issue."
Habitat for Humanity conducts daily volunteer programmes designed to restore, repair and rebuild homes so that families are given accommodation to suit their needs.
Head of Partnerships for Australia Zoe Nelson-Carey said the Homes for Hope programme often had a profound effect on the volunteers involved.
“Our corporate partners get a powerful employee engagement opportunity," she said.
"The program is a chance to step away from the daily tasks to practice compassion in a meaningful way and be part of something bigger.
"It creates strong team bonds and we get stories all the time of improved trust and internal collaboration afterwards, so it’s making a very real difference beyond four walls.”
