We all have bad days at work, but sometimes you can have bad months, or even years. So how do you know if it's just a rut, or a sign of something more? Director of Resolver Recruitment, Virginia Brookes says these are the five tell-tale signs you've officially outgrown your job.
It happens to us all at some point in our careers. You have that moment where you feel like you're hitting a ceiling and you feel there's no more room to grow.
Your career should provide you with an opportunity to grow professionally - this means learning new skills and tackling problems you haven't faced before.
When your job becomes too easy and no longer offers any sort of challenge, you've likely outgrown it.
Director of Resolver Recruitment, Virginia Brookes says these are the top five signs to watch out for if you feel like you're no longer growing at your job and could benefit from a new one.
1. Decreased engagement
Boredom is a big sign you aren't being challenged anymore.
"Your interest in working harder and giving everything to your role or the task at hand is no longer there, and you feel yourself being distracted easily," Ms Brookes said.
So if you're spending more time online shopping at work than actually doing your work, it's probably time to find something more challenging.
2. You're too good
When your job is too easy, it's easy to lose focus and get less work done. And you're probably not developing any new skills.
"You feel you have learnt everything and you are no longer actively learning new things or having your skill set challenged," Ms Brookes said.

And if you're not expanding your skill set or learning new things, you're stunting your career and personal growth.
In order to get better at our jobs, we need to take on new tasks, be introduced to new concepts and develop new skills. If you're at the same level you were at six months ago, it's time to find a new workplace that can offer you more professional development.
3. You watch the clock
Being stuck in a meeting right before 5 pm might have you glancing at your watch, but you shouldn't be counting down the minutes until it's time to go home every day.

"If you sit and count the minutes pass by and wait for milestones like lunch breaks or an opportunity to duck out to the shops, this is a huge sign you are no longer interested in your work," Ms Brookes said.
4. Your body says so
Your body has a way of communicating what is really going on, even if you might not be fully aware of it yet.
"You look tired, run down, and are feeling out of balance. Your body normally picks up on things first, and you will notice a change in sleep patterns, loss of appetite, or even headaches.
"Listen to your body. You might need to take some time off to rebalance," Ms Brookes said.
5. Helping others
When you start choosing to help others, not because you have to, but because you would rather help them because their work is more interesting or engaging than yours.
Ms Brookes says this is a big red flag for your boss because it means they aren't giving you big enough challenges.
