After joining Realmark Coastal earlier this year, iconic Perth agent Paul DiLanzo discusses the process of moving businesses.
Realmark Coastal was the group's leading Western Australian agency last year, a mantle it has held for many years. The agency's huge success and family feel are factors that contributed to iconic Perth agent, Paul DiLanzo's decision to join the team.
In this video, Mr DiLanzo talks about the decision to join Realmark.

Let's talk about the fear of moving.
All agents have a fear of moving. 'What's going to happen with my signs, my commission, what day do I start, it's the transition, am I going to lose income?' etc.
All of those are genuine fears of moving a real estate business, but I think they are just fears. They're not real.
What about the fear of commission?
I think the myth of commission going down is just a myth. In our first month we did four auctions on one Saturday, and we sold the whole lot in just one day - a 'Super Saturday'.
We've probably had our best six months we've had in the twenty years I've been in this transition. I think the fear of us going down drove us to push it up.
Why Realmark?
I think for us, after 20 years of being in the industry, people were approaching us left right and centre.

But I always felt like it was just, and I'd say this to a lot of people "you just want my commission", and that's how they made me feel. But Realmark, and Realmark Coastal in particular - we were asked to join a family, we weren't asked to join a business.
The way they approached us was really super important. We felt super comfortable with the move because we got invited into a family.
What was it REALLY like?
Our first day in the office, we were sitting around and it was all 'yay, yay, yay' and then it was like 'okay, get on with it now'.
I looked over at (business partner) Hayley Pickering and she looked at me and she was like "Paul, we've made the right move", and I was like "yeah we have haven't we".

I got really excited listening to people grinding on the phones - there was real excitement in everyone's voices. We were doing real estate, we weren't here to muck around, so it was really exciting for us.
How is the actual environment and culture?
The energy is super important for me. I'm a really high energy person and coming in and feeling that energy - I'm a bit spiritual in that way, and so coming into the office and feeling that energy was really crackingly amazing.
When you've got two directors on the phone driving real estate business and you get inspired by them, that's really important for me.
Hindsight?
Everyone's got regrets, but my only regret is that we didn't do it sooner.
