This years 'Catchup with the Property Girls' events will be focused on inspiring stories from women who overcame adversity and hardship to make a successful career in real estate.
Rosalind Coffey, Head of People, Culture and Client Experience at Macquarie Bank will be the guest speaker at this year's 'Catch up with the Property Girls' event, to be held on the Macquarie Bank rooftop in Sydney.
As the President of the Real Estate Institute of New South Wales (REINSW), Leanne Pilkington knows there are many women thriving in real estate.
That's why she started the women's networking group, 'Catch up with the Property Girls', designed to connect and inspire women in the property industry.
All about community, 'Catch up with the Property Girls' gives women a forum to communicate any problems or challenges they face, and workshop solutions. It's a collaborative environment aimed at helping women achieve their career goals.
"While today there are nearly as many women working in real estate as there are men, there are still some frontiers to overcome to achieve true gender balance in the industry," Ms. Pilkington told WILLIAMS MEDIA.
Tasmin Wilson, an agent from Belle Property in Parramatta, said the event is a great chance to meet like-minded women.
"In the two years I have been attending these events, the biggest thing I have learnt is that I'm not alone. Whatever the situation, there is someone to talk to and support you through it," she said.
Ms. Pilkington told WILLIAMS MEDIA the response to the 'Catch up with the Propert Girls' events has been "overwhelming".
"While we knew there was an appetite among women in the industry for a forum to empower them professionally, to enable them to workshop solutions to the various challenges we face, we are nonetheless surprised by just how quickly the group has expanded,” she said.
“We encourage all women working in property, irrespective of their specialty or level of experience, to get in touch and come along. There are many valuable experiences and solutions to be shared, connections to be made and, of course, good times to be had,” she says.
One of Ms Pilkington’s key passions, and to be a focus of her tenure as REINSW president, is to encourage more women to take the next step into business ownership.
“Women make up around half of agents working in real estate, yet at the business ownership level, the percentage is significantly less,” she said.
The 'Catch up with the Property Girls' events are expanding internationally, with events currently being held in Los Angeles, while a meeting in New York is scheduled for June 2019.
Tentative plans are in place to hold events in London and Paris in July 2019.
The 'Catch up with the Property Girls' event will be held on Monday November 12 from 6 - 8:30pm on the Macquarie Bank Rooftop in Sydney.
