The people's choice competition is open now with winners receiving a prize valued at $3,000.
This year's best room at Australian House & Garden’s Top 50 Rooms Awards was a sunken living room that blended inside and out, with a neutral palette, a spectacular open fire, and floor-to-ceiling glass.
Designed by Melbourne architect, Dina Malathounis of Junctions90, the room also won the award for Best Indoor-Outdoor Connection. Malathounis wins a trip for two to Paris to attend the Maison & Objet Fair in January 2018.

“Every year we continue to be impressed by the quality and diversity of the submitted rooms,” says Australian House & Garden editor in chief, Lisa Green.
“The line-up of entries this year was breathtaking, with style and comfort levels pushed to the max and every room in the home represented.
“The mix of materials – from natural timbers and stone to contemporary, technology-led surfaces – is ever-more diverse, driven by the expectations of increasingly design-savvy home owners. It’s a great record of excellent residential design at this moment in time.”
H&G’s Top 50 Rooms, which has been going for 19 years, this year received 150 submissions ranging from beautiful and functional kitchens to luxurious living spaces and dreamy bedrooms.
Alongside Green, the judges were: Australian House & Garden houses/interiors editor Kate Nixon; interior designer and blogger Dana Tomic-Hughes of Yellowtrace; colour expert Lucy Sutherland; Nancy Everingham from the RMIT School of Architecture & Design; and Janey Ridge of Warwick Fabrics.
An online vote will determine a People’s Choice Award, with the winning entry receiving a $3000 Warwick Fabrics prize package. Click here to vote online.
