A cage-free zoo is set to open in western Sydney's Blacktown, and is expected to be complete in 2018.
The New South Wales Planning Assessment Commission has approved a new cage-free zoo in western Sydney's Blacktown.
The zoo will be built by Sydney Zoo, and is expected to be complete in 2018.
Bungarribee Park, as the zoo will be called, will cost $36 million to build, and will have 30 exhibits.

African safari animals will be on display, and the zoo will have an integrated Aboriginal and natural heritage program, focusing on the local Darug people of western Sydney.
The site will occupy more than 16.4 hectares, and is expected to attract around 745,000 visitors a year.
