The Real Estate Institute of NSW has signalled its intention to rejoin the national association in a newsletter to its members today. The newsletter states that REINSW resigned its membership of REIA in 2008 for both financial and value reasons. "We have always believed that there was a strong case for an effective national voice, but we disagreed with the structure and effectiveness of the REIA 'model' of that time and saw little willingness to change its structure, approach and priorities," it reads. "With the more recent resignation of REIQ, plus REINSW’s strong push into national lobbying through the 2013-15 REINSW Board and President Malcolm Gunning, the REIA has shown an increased enthusiasm for change.
REINSW put forward a proposal for a new structure to the President Neville Sanders and Deputy President Hayden Groves of REIA in early 2016, and by April that structure was endorsed in principal by the REIA Board. "As a result, the REINSW Board has decided that the time is right to re-join the REIA. We will be able to work from within to assist REIA’s evolution into a more relevant organisation - one that focuses on national issues and the needs of its members (which include the State and Territory REIs plus some franchise groups and affiliated organisations)."
