McGrath auctions of Millers Point properties reaped another $32.85 million for government coffers this week.
A property at 19 Lower Fort Street sold for $4 million at auction last Wednesday evening, while the house next door, at 17 Lower Fort Street, sold for $3.9 million.
Terraces on Lower Fort Street, Millers Point, have so far reaped more than $30 million dollars, which will be directed by the NSW government towards building new public housing. The record for the street goes to 1 Lower Fort Street, which sold for $6.7 million in December last year.
Ten other homes went under the hammer on Wednesday, as part of the NSW government's sale of former housing commission homes. All but one was sold at auction. Number 83 Kent Street was passed in at $2.25 million, but was sold for $2.52 after negotiations on the night.
The mood of the evening was less exuberant that previous similar auctions, perhaps reflecting the auction's proximity to the Easter holiday and a more cautious mood in the real estate market overall.
Sales on the night totalled $32.85 million.
