The best of landscape design in NSW and South Australia this year.
The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects has recently announced the winners of the NSW and South Australian 2015 Landscape Architecture Awards, which celebrate the best of landscape design in each state.
In NSW, the top award was given to McGregor Coxall’s Parramatta City River Strategy, developed in partnership with Parramatta City Council. The project "not only reactivates the Parramatta River corridor, it also cleverly connects it to the City Centre through a sequence of open spaces, access ways and structured ‘quarters,'" said the jury.
The award for Residential Designed Landscapes in NSW was won by Sturt Noble Associates for the Quay Apartments in Haymarket. According to Sturt Noble Associates, the apartments' communal area is "an extensive landscaped podium; detailed in timber, concrete and soft grey tones of paving to accentuate heritage brick elements and lush planting."
In South Australia, the top award, the South Australian Medal for Landscape Architecture, went to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens Wetlands. The wetlands “provide a series of immersive experiences which engage with the natural environment in a creative and innovative way,” said the jury.
