The creation of a new property division at NSW Fair Trading will help lift standards, says REINSW.
The Real Estate Institute of NSW says the creation of a new dedicated real estate division within NSW Fair Trading is proof the NSW government is working with the property industry.
REINSW President Malcolm Gunning said the Real Estate and Property Division, announced earlier this month, will help to lift industry standards and provide a better and more professional level of service to the consumer. "It is a very strong initiative by the Baird Government, and in particular Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation, Victor Dominello," said Gunning. "We are impressed by the level of cooperation from Estate Agents Co-Operative Ltd (EAC) and Australian Livestock & Property Agents Association (ALPA) as well as the Minister's Office and Andrew Gavrielatos, Fair Trading Assistant Commissioner, who is the head of the new division."
Gavrielatos will also hold the responsibility of the establishment of a Real Estate Qualifications Review Committee.
Gunning said the new division will work on "practical resolutions" to issues currently affecting the real estate industry, such as underquoting, entry level standards, ongoing training and property spruikers.
"It is great to see that Premier Mike Baird is following through on his election promise to engage with the property industry," said Gunning.
