Dubbed the nation's worst house, the property sold for almost $700,000 last weekend.
A seriously dilapidated home in the Brisbane suburb of Dutton Park sold at auction last Saturday for $668,000. The property, at 50 Deighton Rd, was marketed as Australia’s worst house and sold for almost $170,000 over reserve.
In marketing the property for sale, Ray White’s Gunther Behrendt stated truthfully, “There is no way to sugar-coat this." More than 100 people gathered to watch the auction, where 25 people bid.
The timber home was built before 1946. It has had the same owner since 1950, and he lived in the home until nine years ago. The owner recently passed away.
