First ever strata apartment on the market for the first time in 50 years.
It has sat vacant for more than 20 years and hasn't been on the market for 50 years, but now the first ever strata apartment in Sydney is up for sale. The two bedroom, ground floor apartment, at 1/189 Liverpool Road in Enfield is lot number one in strata plan one.
The apartment was inherited by 92-year-old Mary Ingall, whose mother purchased it in 1965. Mary has never actually lived in the apartment, and it has sat vacant since 1992, aside from the occasional family guest from out of town.
“The apartment is still dear to me as it still provides me with fond memories of my mother,” she said. "I would love to see it go to someone who loves the apartment as much as my mother did."
It is being sold through Ray White Drummoyne Director Chris Wilkins and has a price guide above $450,000.
The NSW government is currently reforming NSW Strata and community title laws for the first time since the Strata Titles Act was created in 1973 to bring them up to speed.
Wilkins said the building itself has been a key landmark in the local community. "Interestingly, the building this apartment is a part of is often used by State and Federal members of parliament for photography as part of political statements, and it’s a well known building that has made regular appearances throughout its history," Wilkins said.
